Veteran organizer pitches first annual veterans concert at Des Plaines Theater

At the town hall portion of the meeting, Jappy Ferrer described efforts to organize a first annual veterans concert at the Des Plaines Theater to honor World War II veterans. Ferrer said the event is scheduled for August 30 at 4:00 PM and that the theater owner offered to supply bands and staff, with Military Outreach USA leading outreach.
"It's on August 30, of this month, which is a Sunday at 4PM," Ferrer said, and he added that participating veterans service organizations — including American Legion and VFW chapters — would work to bring veterans at no cost. Trustees asked whether the village veterans committee would partner; Ferrer said Military Outreach USA is leading the effort and he expected coordination with local groups. The board did not take action on the event during the meeting.
