The Fuquay-Varina Town Board voted to award a $13,843,000 contract to Landmark Structures I LP for construction of a 1,000,000-gallon elevated water storage tank on Wilbon Road and approved a project ordinance amendment (POA 2702) to supply the funding.
Director Wagner told the board the project scope includes construction of a 150-foot elevated tank, four pressure-relief valves, two pressure-regulation isolation valves, and pipeline connections to the Wilbon booster pump station. "The lowest responsive bidder was Landmark Structures I LP, for an amount of $13,843,000," Wagner said. Construction is anticipated to be completed by the summer of 2028, with management estimating an 18–24 month schedule once under contract.
Wagner also presented the fiscal note: a project ordinance amendment in the amount of $6,643,141 with available funds of $7,199,859 in the current line item to cover the difference. Commissioner Adcock moved to approve the project ordinance amendment and award the contract; Commissioner Haynes seconded. The motion carried by voice vote.
Town officials said the tank will create a higher-pressure zone serving areas from Sunset Lake and Bass Lake Road toward Harnett County and will be located behind Saint Bernadette's Catholic Church off Wilbon Road.
