Red Clay board holds town hall to choose process for next superintendent

"The purpose of tonight's meeting...is not a forum for endorsing or opposing any individual candidate," she said, and listed three possible approaches the board is considering: direct appointment, selecting a partner firm without a public RFP, or issuing a public request for proposals before choosing a firm.
Board members and attendees spent the session discussing trade-offs among speed, transparency and community input. A board speaker said an RFP adds roughly "one to two months" to the timeline but provides public posting and a rubric-based comparison of firms; selecting a firm directly would start outreach sooner. The board encouraged community input through a search webpage and email address, and said the next board meeting is Aug. 19 when further steps could be discussed.
