The New Durham Planning Board said it will invite an external expert to brief the board on primary causes of local water-quality degradation and will schedule that presentation for a future meeting.
"The 1st item on the agenda is a water quality discussion," Chair Bob Craycraft said, adding that the board does not yet have a confirmed speaker. Craycraft proposed using the workshop meeting or the July business meeting to formalize a date and ensure the speaker's availability.
Board members said the planned presentation could be broader than a single local case: "it could be specific to New Durham, but broader discussion than just New Durham," Craycraft said. The board asked staff to help identify a candidate and to coordinate with Maureen, who Craycraft said is helping secure the speaker.
The board made no decisions about policy or funding at the meeting; members framed the item as an informational presentation to be followed by possible next steps at a later meeting.
