Town to use CHIPS funds to pave Canyon and Conway Roads; guardrail repairs set

Cole also said a guardrail repair is scheduled for Canyon Road and warned that sand shortages could create supply issues this year; he plans to draw sand ahead of the usual schedule to avoid delays.
Cole offered the Town Garage as a training site for the Ames Fire Department's grain‑bin rescue exercise on May 31, 2026 on a day when no town employees are scheduled to work. "CHIPS money is going to cover the paving of Canyon and Conway Roads," Cole told the board. The board approved a one‑week compensation for the deputy highway superintendent as a separate personnel motion during the highway report.
