Resident urges re-evaluation of stop sign and pavement markings at Louisa Street exit

Barb McNichols, a resident of Louisa Street North, told trustees that the stop sign and pavement marking at her subdivision exit are positioned so far back that drivers cannot see oncoming traffic without creeping forward past the stop line. "You have to creep forward past the stop sign, past the line on the pavement, in order to see who's coming from the East or the West," McNichols said, and asked the village to inspect the sight line and take corrective action.

McNichols said the problem is especially acute for older residents and people with physical limitations who cannot lean forward. The chair responded that staff would follow up with public works to evaluate stop-sign locations and pavement markings; no immediate changes were made at the meeting.
