Council hears updates on water, streets, parks, cemetery, animal control and administration

Councilmembers provided a series of departmental updates during the Jan. 13 meeting. Councilmember Brandon Rees (Water) announced an Emergency Medical Responder (EMR) class slated for February and raised the need to consider replacing the current plow truck. Councilmember Brian Smith (Streets) reported that bids for crack and pothole repairs had been solicited. Park-related business included bids to install an awning on the front of town hall and discussion of grant opportunities for playground equipment replacement that open in March.
Councilmember Hayden Nicholes reported on cemetery matters and said animal-control concerns involving Dennis Springer’s dog were discussed in detail. Fire Department matters (Chief Shawn Robison) and administration updates (Town Clerk Kevin Washburn, Erika Anderson, Deputy Clerk Doug McMullin) included the status of Credit Union account transfers and a planned Xpress Bill Pay rollout; clerks will receive training next week and the service is expected to go live then.
