Madison School renovation remains long-term priority; interim Health/Life Safety work planned

Dr. Margaret Clauson told the committee that Madison School is on a long‑term track for renovation and expansion to meet evolving instructional and facility needs. The conceptual vision described included additional classroom space, specialized instructional areas, offices and workspaces to support student services, dedicated music and indoor motor development spaces, and improved circulation and flexibility for early learners.
Administrators emphasized that interim Health/Life Safety work is intended to address critical building needs to preserve safe and functional learning environments while maintaining flexibility for a future comprehensive renovation. The district intends to revisit Madison conceptual plans as part of the 2026–2031 Strategic Plan—likely during Year 3 (FY29) or Year 4 (FY30)—to determine whether the current concepts still reflect instructional needs.
Committee members toured Madison School following adjournment to assess conditions that will inform the longer‑range renovation design and schedule. No formal design approvals or contract awards were recorded at the meeting.
