The Groton Unification Committee voted to temporarily place two sculptures in town gardens so members and the public can assess scale and reception. A committee member moved that “we take Bruce's sculptures, temporarily place them at the PlayStation Town Hall to get an idea for size and whatnot,” and the motion carried with the members voting in favor.
Committee members discussed siting (Town Hall frontage and the police station), anchoring and permanence—members said permanent pieces would be anchored in concrete or otherwise secured—and the plan is to display the pieces for a short trial period (members suggested about one week) before deciding on longer-term installation. One member offered to produce larger or alternate designs if the trial showed public interest.
The decision followed a presentation of options (stone cairns, metal cut-work and larger abstract pieces) and cost considerations. The committee asked the presenter to arrange the temporary placements and report back on public reaction and any damage or security concerns before any fundraising or permanent work begins.
