City staff presented resolution 26-0802 asking the council to waive the planning commission review requirement so the closing on conveyance of industrial-park property to Rich and Sherry Lees could proceed.
Staff explained the council had already approved moving forward with the sale and that the waiver merely bypasses a formal planning-commission review that the comprehensive plan otherwise contemplates. "This is waiving the planning commission's review of the, City Of Hibbing's, conveyance of real property, in the industrial park to Rich and Sherry Lees," the staff presentation said. Staff noted some title "memorials" remain under review but that the closing date was projected in the near term.
Councilor Hildebrand moved the resolution and the motion carried. Councilors asked whether the proposed use would require rezoning; staff said the intended use, as represented by the purchaser, would fit current zoning and that conditions on the sale could stop the transaction if the buyer changed course.
