Board of Equalization approves and denies several parcel appeals

The Nobles County Board of Equalization heard several property appeals and recorded votes on multiple parcels. Chairperson Chris Dybevick called the session to order at 6:00 p.m. and the board considered appellants who had attended local reviews, including owners representing Parcels 24-0038-000, 16-0121-250, 15-0155-000 and 09-0012-500.
The board approved a reduction for Parcel 31-2084-750, lowering the estimated market value from $521,900 to $480,000 by a 4-1 vote (Ahlers, Paplow, Dybevick and Roos for; Demuth against). Commissioner Justin Ahlers had also proposed an alternate figure of $530,000, but that motion died for lack of a second. The board voted 4-1 to leave Parcel 31-1883-000 unchanged at $570,900 (Demuth, Paplow, Dybevick and Roos in favor; Ahlers opposed).
In line with the Assessor's recommendations, the board declined action on Parcel 31-2187-050 because assessors were denied entry by the homeowner. The board also accepted assessor recommendations to make adjustments or leave values as follows: Parcel 09-0012-500 — no adjustment ($585,700); Parcel 24-0038-000 — reduced from $94,200 to $90,500 (motion by Justin Ahlers; seconded by Chris Dybevick); Parcel 16-0121-250 — reduced from $193,500 to $167,900 (motion by Bob Paplow; seconded by Chris Dybevick); Parcel 15-0155-000 — reduced from $612,800 to $499,600 (motion by Bob Paplow; seconded by Robert S. Demuth). The board adjourned at 7:35 p.m.
