Council approves Lions Club rock-garden and sidewalk extension at Leffingwell Park

Town Manager Suzanne Harvey presented a collaborative proposal from the Lions Club and Huachuca City School to create a rock-garden path in Leffingwell Park. "The Town will spend approximately $800.00 to extend the sidewalk between the School and the Library using edging and millings," Harvey said; schoolchildren will paint rocks to line the path.
Council moved to approve the proposal (motion by Johann Wallace, seconded by Cynthia Butterworth) and the motion passed unanimously. The project pairs Town capital (sidewalk edging and millings) with volunteer and school participation in a community beautification effort.
The approved work is limited to the sidewalk extension and decorative rock placement; funding is an approximate one-time expense from general fund project allowances and staff will coordinate scheduling with the school and Lions Club.
