Nobles County approves WIOA Joint Powers Agreement to maintain workforce funding
Summary
The board approved continuation of the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act Joint Powers Agreement so the 14-county Local Workforce Service Area can continue to receive WIOA funds and provide Adult, Dislocated Worker, Youth and universal services.
Nobles County commissioners voted June 2 to approve the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) Joint Powers Agreement used by the 14‑county Local Workforce Service Area. County staff and the Southwest Minnesota Private Industry Council requested the action to keep the area's compliance and funding eligibility for WIOA programs delivering Adult, Dislocated Worker, Youth and universal services.
The motion to approve the JPA was moved by Commissioner Justin Ahlers and seconded by Commissioner Gene Metz. The minutes record the board's action as duly passed; the county will remain part of the regional arrangement required to receive WIOA financial resources and deliver the designated programming.
