The Nobles County Board approved a detour agreement with the Minnesota Department of Transportation to facilitate a bridge (box culvert) replacement on U.S. Highway 59 north of Worthington. The detour will route traffic onto county roads CSAH 16, CSAH 1 and CSAH 14. MnDOT reported work is scheduled to begin Aug. 17 and is expected to be completed and open to traffic by Oct. 2, 2026; the agency will compensate the county under its usage-based formula.
Commissioner Bob Paplow moved to approve the detour agreement; Commissioner Justin Ahlers seconded the motion. The minutes note that MnDOT uses a formula to compensate counties based on actual use of county roadways during detours; any operational details and traffic control measures will be addressed during coordination with county public works.
