He noted statutory requirements and said the town should remove provisions it currently prohibits but which state law permits: "we currently prohibit things which the state does not," Benavidez said.
Council approved a motion authorizing ordinance preparation; members discussed timing and returned the item to the attorney to draft the necessary language. No specific ordinance text or effective date was approved at the meeting; the vote authorized staff to begin drafting.
