Town staff (Joe) reported a favorable meeting with McCordsville and a developer on a memorandum of understanding for a water-extension across municipal boundaries; staff said the MOU is being refined in a few places and should come back to the council for approval. On public-works activity, demolition began on an alley on Main Street and crews discovered unexpectedly thick asphalt—about 4 inches—during removal. "They started tearing all the asphalt out. I think the asphalt was a little thicker than they were expecting. It was, like, 4 inches thick," staff said.
Staff said they expect the alley work to return to normal within a couple of weeks and that substantial mobilization on the water extension awaits DOT completion and final MOU execution; the developer had begun ordering equipment and staff expects active construction to follow once all approvals are in place.
