Council authorizes full-time assistant planner to replace part-time assistant

Planning and Building Director Adam Zach Lukowski asked the council to formally authorize replacing a part-time administrative assistant with a full-time assistant planner to increase department capacity and allow staff to process simple permits over the counter. "I'm Adam Zach Lukowski, the planning and building director for the town," Lukowski said while outlining that the role would handle electrical permits, shed permits and easement encroachments to improve customer service.
Council members agreed to authorize opening the position and staff said they will advertise and return with a proposed salary amendment after the budget meeting. The motion to approve the position carried by voice vote; details on pay and classification were left for a forthcoming salary-ordinance amendment.
