Trustees unanimously approved a one-year extension to the existing memorandum of understanding with Ross Bower Charter School. Staff explained the extension was technical: recent state law changed charter renewal timelines (to 2027) while the existing MOU ran through 2026; the extension permits the county office to continue oversight until full renewal materials are submitted in the fall.
"This is just a one-year extension to the existing MOU to allow us time to continue to do our oversight over the charter while their charter is still eligible through '27," a staff presenter said. Trustees had no substantive changes and the board approved the extension by motion.
Staff said if the board later chooses to renew the charter after the full renewal process, they will revisit and update the MOU at that time.
