The board approved two facilities procurement items at its June 9 meeting. Julian Jefferies, director of facilities, presented the scope for interior painting, carpet replacement and moisture mitigation at the main office; staff recommended awarding the contract after the low bidder withdrew and a responsible bidder was identified.
Contracting staff recommended proceeding with US Construction Group for $947,300, inclusive of alternates and moisture-barrier floor preparation. "Our recommendation is to proceed with the work to US Construction Group, the amount of $947,300," the facilities presenter said. Trustees asked about responsiveness and the factors used to evaluate bids; staff explained the process (license, bonding, insurance, and responsiveness) and confirmed contingency allowances for unknown slab-moisture conditions.
On a separate item, the board approved phase 2 renovations for Walker Creek Ranch Lodge to repair bathrooms, HVAC and structural elements with the goal of reopening in the fall and an estimated $170,000 in annual conference revenue. The board moved, seconded and unanimously approved both awards.
