Maricopa approves contract to update Housing Element as state requires

The Maricopa City Council voted Nov. 12 to authorize the mayor and city clerk to execute a contract with Realty Planners Group, Inc., to update the city's General Plan Housing Element for the sixth cycle, perform a fair housing analysis, and draft related ordinances and policies. City Administrator Eric Ziegler told the council the state requires the Housing Element update.
Council Member Crump moved to approve the agreement and Council Member Albright seconded. The motion passed unanimously among members present (Albright, Crump, Mayor Morse); Bell and Owens were absent. The contract will fund planning services and staff will return with details required for public outreach and the statutory submission schedule.
