Speaking remotely, the superintendent (speaker 5) told the board he attended a New Superintendents Institute in Albany and encouraged the community to view a district linkage document that is being printed and posted on the district website. He promoted the musical "Newsies" (performances Nov. 21–23) and announced two family 'coffee with the superintendent' sessions on Dec. 1 at 4:30 p.m. and Dec. 5 at 9 a.m. in the large cafeteria.
On student inclusion and athletics, the superintendent described launch of Unified Sports (bowling, with plans for basketball) that pairs students with and without intellectual disabilities to promote inclusion. He also said the district has compiled a two-page emergency-practices document and is continuing comprehensive reviews of safety procedures; the document was distributed to parents via ParentSquare. The superintendent said a more detailed capital improvement project update will be presented at the Dec. 1 meeting.
The superintendent also highlighted student athletics, noting: "...congratulations to Simon Aguilar who went on to represent Geneseo at the cross country state meet this past weekend and Simon finished 6 out of 124 Runners in class D competition."
