Geneseo PTSA and regional PTA honor speech-language pathologist Katie Shoop

Matt Krautz (speaker 8), president of the Geneseo PTSA, introduced Susan Brown (speaker 3) of the Genesee Valley PTA and the New York State PTA, who presented the J. Ernest Du Bois award to speech-language pathologist Katie Shoop at the start of the Dec. 1 meeting.
"This year, we would like to celebrate speech language pathologist Katie Shoop as our J. Ernest Du Bois award winner," Susan Brown said, outlining the award’s history (established in 1986 and named for J. Ernest Du Bois) and citing Shoop’s leadership in PTA programming, Holiday Shop, Hero Dance, Pastries with Peeps, and service on the capital improvement and building planning teams.
Board members and attendees applauded; staff brought a cake following the presentation. Matt Krautz and PTSA representatives emphasized Shoop’s role in strengthening PTA–school partnerships and supporting student programming, and the board offered thanks for the PTSA’s volunteer service and event organization.
The board meeting moved next to the capital-project presentation after the award recognition.
