McKinney reports 30,000 at Towne Lake fireworks; urban park and dog-park projects set to begin

Paul Grimes, representing the City of McKinney, told the Economic Development Corporation board the recent red-white-and-boom event at Towne Lake drew a record crowd: "About 30,000 people showed up," he said, and staff continue to work on ingress and egress to improve traffic for annual park events.
Grimes also reported capital projects: construction on the urban park is scheduled to begin Aug. 10 with intermittent closures during the work, and the Bob Bob and Barbara Thomas dog park contract was approved by the park board on July 9 and is slated to go to council on Aug. 4.
