Denton honored as an Electric City for inspection and electrical-safety practices

The city of Denton received an Electric City recognition from the International Association of Electrical Inspectors during the Dec. 16 council meeting.
Amanda Wozniak, representing the International Association of Electrical Inspectors and a partner group, presented the certificate and said Denton is the eighth city nationally to receive the recognition for its sustained commitment to inspection training and code enforcement. She praised staff and said the program reduces electrical hazards and improves community resilience. City staff told council they perform about 40,000 inspections per year, a tally Wozniak said reflects the city’s investment in inspection capabilities.
Council applauded staff and accepted the recognition on behalf of Denton.
