Valerie Arizmendi, who has led the Cameron County Fair and Livestock Show since 2005, told the CDC the 2027 fair will add an extra day for animal arrival to ease traffic, introduce breeding lamb classes and expand judging by species. She asked the board for continued support; the CDC approved a $10,000 service agreement for the 2027 event.
"So to alleviate traffic congestion here on Highway 100, we're gonna bring animals in on Wednesday," Arizmendi said, describing scheduling changes for the fair. The board moved, seconded and approved the $10,000 request by voice vote.
