County to pilot 'Empower' victim app with IMPD advocates as rollout nears

Marion County community corrections staff said they are finalizing procedures to pilot the Empower victim app in coordination with Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD) victim advocates.
The executive director said staff are “getting closer to being able to move forward with Empower,” and that IMPD victim advocates will take a role in the rollout. He said the team is finalizing a step-by-step process and hopes to have a document ready within about a week to share with the vendor and begin training.
Board members welcomed progress and referenced examples from other jurisdictions the county is modeling; staff said they will align procedures with IMPD and then proceed with vendor meetings and training before launching the pilot.
