The Health and Hospital Corporation board approved a request to proceed with a public bid for laboratory furniture and, following staff evaluation, recommended awarding the purchase to RIJ.
Adelaide, the corporation’s director of purchasing, said the furniture package covers fixtures and equipment needed as the new public-health lab reaches final construction. She told trustees the bid ‘‘was advertised in the paper. 22 vendors had access to the bid and only 5 vendors responded.’’ Felicia, who participated in the evaluation, described the review process and supplier participation plan scoring and said the chosen vendor was ‘‘the most responsive across all of those evaluation categories’’ even though portions of its submission had technical gaps and a higher price.
The board approved the procurement request and then voted by roll call to carry the award motion 5-0. Trustees were shown the evaluation details in the board materials and staff said comparable pricing across bidders and supplier-participation considerations informed the recommendation.
