Cindy Schnabel presented the proposed MCDC fiscal 2027 budget and described revenue and major expense lines: sales‑tax revenue was budgeted at $25.9 million, interest income at $1.4 million, and other sources at $430,000. Discretionary community grants were budgeted at just under $19 million; debt service for Apex and McKinney National Airport totaled just over $3 million and roadway infrastructure contributions were budgeted at $2.4 million.
The board discussed taking a conservative approach to revenue projections (finance committee used a 2.5% growth assumption) and approved a motion to forward the MCDC budget to city council as part of the overall city budget process. A board member noted that if collections exceed the conservative estimate, those funds would still be available for community grants later in the year.
