Village staff proposes 'Notable Neighbor' and 'Circle of Champions' recognition programs

Communications staff and the Citizens Advisory Committee presented a proposed resident recognition program designed to spotlight local individuals, groups and businesses that contribute to community life. The program would feature two tracks: Notable Neighbor (quarterly nominations for everyday community contributions) and Circle of Champions (rolling recognition for state, national or international honors).
"This program is about celebrating the people who make Shorewood the community oriented and special place that it is," communications staff Isabelle Bohannick said as she walked trustees through an example web page and the proposed nomination form. Staff said nominations would be accepted via a streamlined form on the village website (with a paper option at the building department) and would be reviewed by staff and the Citizens Advisory Committee for eligibility and selection.
Board members expressed general support and asked staff to proceed with launch and follow up briefings to the board.
