Public works reports delays on reservoir and updates transmission-main, US‑52 signal work

Public works reported several utility and road-signal projects during the Aug. 26 Shorewood meeting. The department said the pumping station and 5,000,000-gallon underground reservoir are progressing "a little bit slower than we would like" because of recent heavy rains. Crews are advancing a 16-inch transmission main north from Saile Road along the west property line of Four Seasons Park; directional-boring crews will mobilize to push pipe under CN Railroad tracks now that insurance and permitting are complete.
The department also updated the board on the US 52 signal project: curb work has been completed by Austin Tyler and the next stage is conduit installation by Van Mac, which could begin this week. The department estimated equipment installation for the traffic signal in February–March and warned of lane closures and other short-term construction inconveniences during conduit work.
