Doug Clary presented zoning map updates (2025-0013) for areas along Hwy 29, proposing changes from Residential 2 and Agricultural to Residential 1 and from Residential 2 to Agricultural in places to align zoning with current land use. "Mr. Clary explained that the area is being rezoned as part of our ongoing process to rezone regions based on their current use. This area is along Hwy 29 and has established single-family homes and agricultural land currently zoned Residential 2."
Resident Kip Landry (5075 159th Street) questioned why single-dwelling home development is allowed in the agricultural zone; Steve Idso later questioned why neighboring property owners are permitted to operate businesses not approved for the agricultural zone. Mr. Clary said the Village retained previously established zoning when incorporated and that rezoning is intended to bring designations in line with actual land use. Commissioner Nancy Mauhar moved to approve the updated zoning map as presented; James Stueber seconded and the voice vote carried.
