Douglas County approves $30,000 increase to TruePoint contract amid Oracle/OPAL concerns

Douglas County commissioners on Aug. 6 approved a first amendment to the countycontract with TruePoint Solutions LLC to extend consulting and maintenance for the Oracle OPAL software system and raise the contract amount from $49,000 to $79,000 through June 30, 2027. The motion passed unanimously, 5-0.
Commissioner Hales, who asked that this consent item be pulled for discussion, said the county has received complaints about the Oracle/OPAL transition and wanted the public on notice that the board is looking into the broader implementation. "I have concerns about Oracle slash OPAL and have asked for an agenda item on that in the near future," Hales said, adding the software transition is a large undertaking and that the building community had raised issues. County staff described the amendment as supporting the current transition work.
Chairman Gardner read the contract amendment into the record before the board moved to public comment and, with concurrence of the board, returned to take the motion. Commissioner Hales made the motion to approve the consent item; the motion was seconded and the amendment passed 5-0. There was no recorded fiscal impact beyond the amended contract total, and county staff said the county manager is authorized to execute the contract.
