At the Dec. 5 meeting Trustee Tom Jordan proposed establishing a discretionary fund separate from Tourism to cover local requests that might otherwise go unfunded. Trustees questioned whether the village should function like a social-service organization and where funds would originate.
Trustee Steve Retzer asked if the village would effectively become a social-service provider; Trustee J.W. Coleman asked where money for the fund would come from. "Perhaps the Board could look at the requests not granted and set a limit based on that," Trustee Paula Belobrajdic-Stewart said and suggested a lower amount such as $8,000. Trustee Jordan proposed using the general fund but acknowledged it would require a budget line and formal approval.
No formal motion was made at the Dec. 5 meeting; trustees agreed to consider the idea and fold it into future budget discussions.
