The Village Board approved the ordinance levying taxes for the fiscal year beginning May 1, 2024 and ending April 30, 2025, after Treasurer Mindy Olson told trustees she kept the increase under the state threshold that would require a public hearing.
"There was no need for a public hearing because she was able to keep the increase under 5%. The increase is roughly 4% of prior year's levy," Olson said. President Richard Samples called for a motion; Trustee Tom Luber moved and Trustee J.W. Coleman seconded. The board approved the levy by roll call.
Trustees did not provide line-item details in the meeting minutes; Olson indicated levy planning is ongoing as staff completes budget work. The board did not schedule an additional public hearing on the levy at this meeting.
