President Richard Samples presented a proposed $2,500 tourism sponsorship for the Jacksonville Festival of Lights and asked the board to vote. Trustee Tom Jordan moved to approve the sponsorship and Trustee Tom Luber seconded; the roll-call vote found Trustees Jordan and Luber in favor and Trustees Paula Belobrajdic-Stewart, J.W. Coleman and Steve Retzer against the motion, so the sponsorship failed.
The board did not adopt the sponsorship funding. The meeting minutes record the split vote and note that trustees weighed costs and likely reimbursements related to event arrangements prior to the vote.
