Orland Park honors veterans at 23rd annual Salute during Taste of Orland Park

Dan Marcin, a U.S. Navy veteran and veterans program coordinator with the Orland Park Veterans Advisory Board, opened the 23rd annual Salute to Veterans at the Taste of Orland Park and thanked attendees, elected officials and volunteers for supporting veterans.
"As we celebrate America's semiquincentennial this year, we honor the courage, the sacrifice, the innovation, and determination of those who came before us," Marcin said during his opening remarks. He introduced the color guard and led the program through the posting of colors, the Pledge of Allegiance and a performance of the national anthem by longtime anthem singer Jim Corneliuson.
The program included an invocation by Pastor Don Borling of All Saints Lutheran Church, remarks from Mayor Jim Dodge and musical performances by local children's groups. Marcin used the occasion to spotlight local support programs and encouraged veterans in need to contact village staff for assistance.
