The board voted to amend Title 2 of the village code to establish two new advisory bodies: a student advisory board and a young entrepreneurs and professionals advisory board. The ordinance was moved, seconded and approved by roll call.
The mayor's appointments to the new boards were consented to by motion. New appointees named during the meeting included Joseph Malinowski and Macy Dennis, who introduced themselves and said they look forward to serving. Trustees said the advisory boards are intended to provide fresh perspectives and ideas to village staff and the board on issues important to younger residents and professionals.
Trustees said they expect advisory board members to bring forward ideas that the board and staff can use to improve community engagement and to help retain younger residents in Orland Park.
