Plan Commission backs Cooper family fencing variance for 14461 Woodland Ave

Village planner Haley Gorman told the commission the property is in the R-3 Residential District and that a 2021 code amendment requires a 6-foot opaque fence to screen corner-lot pools; the petitioner proposes a 5-foot open fence and supplemental landscaping. Gorman noted the pool permit had been issued but the fence permit could not be issued because it did not meet code and that the pool had not passed final inspection. Several neighbors spoke in support of the Coopers' proposal, saying the open fence fits the character of the neighborhood. After questions from commissioners about safety and the permitting timeline, the Plan Commission voted unanimously to adopt findings and recommend the variance to the Board of Trustees.
