City asked to consider joining amicus brief in Milton appeal to Georgia Supreme Court

City attorney Rick briefed council on a request from the city of Milton for the city to join an amicus brief in an appeal now before the Supreme Court of Georgia. Counsel summarized that the Supreme Court posed three questions for review and that Milton will address those questions in its brief; Milton requested other municipalities to sign on to an amicus brief setting forth the issues for the Court.
Rick said the council would be asked to indicate whether it wished to join the amicus brief; if the council agrees, counsel will circulate the draft brief and return it to the council for formal signatory approval. "Milton's asking us again to join an amicus brief," Rick said, noting the brief will come to counsel to review before any signature is provided.
