Board hears multi-site facilities update: paving, water-main work, kitchen equipment and upcoming building survey

The Glen Cove Board of Education received a detailed facilities status report noting work at several schools, including paving and concrete repairs at the high school and replacement of a water main where the district recorded two leaks in the past year. "The back parking lot is now paved and will be drivable tomorrow," the facilities committee member reported.
The update listed several discrete projects: installation of a new RPZ and curb valve, repaired fencing around electric service at the main field, delivery of a three-compartment sink and prep tables for the kitchen ("once installed, the required lead testing will be conducted"), new furniture in the nurse's office, and resurfacing and recoding of the main gym floor. At Daisy, work on the pre-K classroom is nearly complete with flooring scheduled for next week; Connolly's bathroom 1 has been gutted and is being painted; Gribbon had paving after a sewer-line repair; and Thayer resumed siding and portico base work.
The facilities committee representative said the district is required to conduct a building condition survey every five years and that the resulting report will be submitted to SED. The board noted the facilities committee will begin meeting in August to track these capital projects and coordinate next steps.
