Trustees authorized the mayor to enter into an agreement with Austin Jones to cover the village's share of costs for obtaining a commercial driver's license (CDL). The mayor explained the village uses a prorated repayment plan: if the employee remains for five years he does not owe repayment; if he leaves earlier the repayment is prorated.
The mayor said past experience showed employees sometimes left soon after training; the new agreement is intended to protect village training investments while allowing staff to obtain needed qualifications. Trustees approved the authorization by voice vote.
