South Chicago Heights swears in firefighter, pins promotions and honors retiring inspector

Fire Chief Chad Vlietstra spoke during the opening items to report personnel actions in the fire department. He said Luis Garcia completed the fire academy in January 2025, completed training and ride-alongs with the crew, and is ready for part-time duty; Clerk Catherine Linan administered the oath swearing Garcia in as a Firefighter/EMT.
Chief Vlietstra announced promotions for Rogell Hamilton (to Fire Engineer) and Michael Stokoski (to Fire Captain); Clerk Linan swore both in and conducted badge pinning ceremonies. Vlietstra also presented a plaque to Captain Jeremy McCool for 15 years of service and presented a plaque to Fire Inspector Steven Kozlowski upon his retirement.
