Commissioner Joe Haney presented a proposed ordinance to establish publishing requirements for county ordinances and resolutions, saying it would require posting measures online 48 hours prior to meetings and, after approval, recording them with the Recorder’s office for long-term access. Haney asked the board to change a proposed five-business-day posting requirement to fifteen business days to align with state law; Attorney Guy DiMartino recommended that exact amendment.
The board moved to read the ordinance by title only, with the change to fifteen business days under section 30.33.B; this constituted first reading. Haney said the extra recording step is intended to preserve institutional memory and help future staff locate older ordinances and resolutions. The ordinance will return for second reading at the next commissioners’ meeting and then proceed to the County Council for its readings.
