Board hears Special Education, MTSS and SEL pilot updates

Michelle Franci, the district’s Special Education Coordinator, told trustees staff will use the upcoming professional development day to "work on and examining essential standards with ELA" and that assessments are being entered into the district data system. Lisa Warne, Director of Instructional Services, said the YouthTruth staff survey window has opened, the district is narrowing MTSS standards to essential elements and counselors are piloting a social‑emotional learning (SEL) platform.
Warne also said district teams are developing common formative assessments and finishing DIBELS mid‑year screenings. Trustees did not take formal action; the reports were informational and staff said they will return with results and any recommended instructional changes.
