The Miami County Board of County Commissioners unanimously approved a chief elected officials agreement to formalize the county's participation in Kansas Workforce 1.
A presenter explained that more than a year earlier the Southeast Kansas Works group dissolved for financial reasons and was absorbed into Kansas Workforce 1, which now includes nearly all counties outside the Kansas City metropolitan area. "Commissioner Vaughn has served as our representative of that since we've came into Kansas Workforce 1," the presenter said, and the agreement simply designates the area's responsibilities and authority for chief elected officials.
Commissioner (motion) moved to approve the agreement and a second followed; the vote was unanimous. The agreement was described as formalizing continued participation rather than creating a new program or funding requirement.
No additional financial commitments were reported at the meeting.
