Huachuca City joins Cochise County pool for opioid settlement funds; town share modest

Town Manager Suzanne Harvey told the council that Huachuca City previously agreed to pool its opioid settlement funds with Cochise County because the town’s allocation alone would be small and the county has capacity to administer the funds. Harvey said the pooled Cochise County account currently holds about $3,000,000 and that Huachuca City’s share is approximately $28,000.
The proposed intergovernmental agreement creates an advisory board intended to give participating jurisdictions a voice in how pooled funds are used to mitigate the opioid crisis. Harvey said the IGA had been slow to arrive but is now included in the council packet and recommended approving Resolution 2026-01 so the county can begin evaluating projects. Johann R. Wallace moved to approve Resolution 2026-01; Christy Hirshberg seconded and the motion passed unanimously.
