Council approves $30,235.63 in additional repairs to municipal D6 dozer

The Huachuca City Council voted to approve additional repairs to the town's Caterpillar D6 dozer after staff reported a fuller mechanical problem than initially anticipated. Town Manager Suzanne Harvey told the council that when the final drive was disassembled crews discovered both sides required replacement, raising the repair cost by $30,235.63.
"When they got it up there and took it apart, both sides need to be replaced so it is an additional $30,000, that is our D6. It's a critical piece of equipment. We also just paid it off, so we need to do the repair," Harvey said. The motion to approve the repair was moved by Johann Wallace, seconded by Christy Hirshberg, and passed unanimously as recorded in the minutes.
Council did not attach alternative procurement conditions in the minutes; the manager framed the repair as necessary to keep essential public works equipment operational.
