DOJ to expand Midwest health-care fraud strike force to Minnesota and add prosecutors, officials say

DOJ officials said they have surged prosecutors to Minnesota, are expanding a Midwest health-care fraud strike force into the state and will hire 15 additional prosecutors to combat Medicaid fraud nationwide.
Assistant Attorney General Colin McDonald said earlier this year the DOJ surged 11 strike-force prosecutors to Minnesota and that the department is expanding the Midwest health-care fraud strike force into the state. He said DOJ will hire 15 additional prosecutors dedicated to combating Medicaid fraud nationwide to ensure the fraud division has the resources to pursue complex schemes.
"To continue our to expand our reach, we are announcing today the expansion of the health care fraud Midwest scribe force to Minnesota and the hiring of 15 additional prosecutors dedicated to combating Medicaid fraud nationwide," McDonald said. DOJ also credited partnerships with the FBI, HHS-OIG, HSI and IRS-CI as central to identifying and unmasking alleged fraudulent actors and said the additional resources will improve the department's capacity to pursue cases.
