DOJ cites case in which a patient allegedly received no services and died; defendant billed Medicaid

Colin McDonald singled out a case that prosecutors say illustrates the human consequences of the alleged schemes: a patient who was supposed to receive 24-hour care through the integrated community supports program instead received no services and later was found dead, while a defendant allegedly billed Medicaid and submitted a claim of more than $400 for services the day before the patient died.
"1 patient was supposed to be receiving 24 hour care through this program. But he was actually being serviced by a fraudster. And received no services. This patient was later found dead," McDonald said. He said the architect of the alleged scheme billed Medicaid as if care had been provided and that DOJ will pursue prosecutions in cases where vulnerable individuals were harmed.
