Municipal Manager Penny Wu told the Select Board the recent flood watch served as a constructive operational test: emergency medical services, volunteer groups and shelters staged successfully and no immediate actions were required. "This was a good test and no actions were needed. Our EMS team performed exactly as you would want," Wu said.
Wu reported FEMA receivables have been reduced and that roughly $114,000 remains outstanding; she said she will continue to follow up with FEMA and the Vermont Emergency Management. The town now owns the property known as Sam’s; contractors are awaiting an asbestos report after finding an underground tank. Wu also said two flood buyout proposals (18 Mill Street and 86 Pleasant Street) are pending FEMA approval. Board members asked for a one‑page public information sheet on flood response and contingency planning for residents who may be cut off during river flooding; staff agreed to prepare materials and to refine planning for shelter locations and logistics.
